Q&A: What’s the difference between “Tweeter” and “myspace” and “facebook”?

Question by Chloe: What’s the difference between “Tweeter” and “myspace” and “facebook”?
I’m confused. I understand that they are “social networking” sites. I get that part. You “tweet” from your phone though, right? If someone can explain what “Tweeter” is all about though and how it’s different than “myspace” and “facebook”, thanks. I also know that each site is more popular w/ certain ages and different socioeconomic backgrounds.

Well, twitter, if that’s what you mean by “Tweeter” is a site where users post short updates about what they are doing. Just text. You can use your phone to tweet, yes. Twitter is different to Myspace and Facebook, because they allow you to do more advanced things like chat to people, play games, post links and videos etc. Facebook and Myspace are much more advanced than twitter; twitter is very simple.

How do I meet new people at this place?

Question by : How do I meet new people at this place?
I am a teenager and today I am going to a little social-celebration thing at a place where I know absolutely no one. People will be in little circles talking to each other, but I don’t want to break in and interrupt because that would be weird.

But how do I meet new people here, because it’s supposed to be a “networking” event?

Don’t try to imagine what will or will not happen or how awkward you’ll be. Walk in as if you’ve been there before and try not to give the “deer in the headlights” impression. Just try to be at ease and I’m pretty sure there will be others feeling the same as you are. It’s all normal and you’ll be just fine.

Q&A: In your line of work, how important is actual ability to advance?

Question by Jesse Pinkman – No Gurlz Allowəd!: In your line of work, how important is actual ability to advance?
In many positions, it’s not ability itself that is terribly important, but the ability to get to know and cajole the right people.

In a select few lines of work, and they are few and far between, you will be judged on your ability alone.

Most require some combination of ability and “networking.” It’s probably a 65-70/35-30 split between the latter and the former.

I think in most ‘rank & file’ positions–factory worker & the like–it is ‘who you know’, not ‘what you know’ that gets you advanced.
I am a house cleaner. I run my own business. There is no room for advancement.
But networking is an absolute in my business. There is a lot of competition in my field. Luckily I live in a rural area where word of mouth plays a bigger part in getting a new client than looking in the Yellow Pages.

How to find local people with skills on myspace, like musicians, or even electricians?

Question by J: How to find local people with skills on myspace, like musicians, or even electricians?
Myspace has a section for “networking” that you can put on your myspace page that tells people what you do or your hobbies. How can I search locally by this criteria? I need to find a Bassist ASAP!

Question by Disgustipated: On Mass Effect 2 can two people with the same Xbox 360 use the same “Cerebus Network” activation card?
My boyfriend and I have two separate Xbox live accounts, but one Mass Effect 2 “Cerebus Network” activation card. Will I need to buy Microsoft points to get my own activation code? Or does it work for all the accounts on the same Xbox? Since he already downloaded the content, wouldn’t it be on the whole Xbox.

What exactly does an “unidentified network” mean?

Question by kirrii: What exactly does an “unidentified network” mean?
Occasionally when I use a wireless computer to connect to the internet, I get this message “unidentified network” above the internet icon on task bar. I am assured it is a secure connection and sooner or later, my usual ISP providers name returns but I want to know what it means? Am I really secure?

Leaving your wireless network unprotected could be an open door for nosy neighbors—or worse—mobile malicious attackers searching for wireless networks to break into, a practice known as wardriving.

What is a “school network” on facebook and how do I join it?

Question by Johnny: What is a “school network” on facebook and how do I join it?
So I’ve heard about these “school networks” on facebook. What exactly are they and how can I access it and what are the benifits? Does it just mean the people on facebook who go to that school. Or is there actually a facebook page with the name of your school where kids can chat on instead of just clicking on peoples pages and messaging them directly. So how does it work? Is it worth joiining? And can you add people from or to the school network to?

Thanks to all in advance.
